Hey everyone, hope you all had a brilliant NSD weekend. Our LFE subscriber Facebook group was a hive full of inspiring challenges, layouts and lovely people. It was so much fun!
Today’s layout was inspired by just one paper, Paper 03 from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection. It has all of the colours and patterns featured in the kit and collection, so it’s a great paper to use to really get a feel for the Fancy Free collection and get that bright and fun summery vibe.
As both sides of the paper mirror each other, it’s really easy to use. Just punch (or cut) one of the circles and you will get the pattern on one side and the colour-blocked circle with a phrase on the other.
I used a compass cutter to do this (we’re not friends right now as I explain in the process video!), but if you have a 2 inch circle punch or even just a pair of scissors, it’s super easy and quick to do.
I used a photo I snapped at my friends’ wedding whilst they were leaving the church and everyone was throwing confetti. I really liked the idea of this layout mirroring what was going on in the photo, so this paper was perfect.
The colours in this layout may not be traditional wedding colours, but I really don’t think that matters. It’s a fun and happy-looking layout, just as the day was. I made sure to keep the circles within the lighter colours but chose a lot of the blues and yellows, as a little nod to the main colour scheme of their wedding.
I ended up downsizing some of the circles, to give the illusion of confetti falling. I also used a single hole punch, and a small heart punch on some of the scraps to fill in the gaps of white space in between the larger circles.
And of course, I ended up stitching (classic Elsie!!). The title of this page is ‘Falling For You’ which I thought worked well as it was the name of the song of my friends’ first dance, and it worked well with the idea of confetti falling, and them falling in lurrrrve (aww!).
To embellish, I used some of the circular Fancy Free wood veneers and buttons, and also went a bit rub-on crazy with the Better Together rub-ons, they’re just so darn addictive to use!
